About SmallBizDesk

Last updated

Free tools for the paperwork side of running a small business, built so your files never leave your computer.

Why this site exists

Owners, office managers and bookkeepers lose hours every week to jobs that are simple but slow: retyping a bank statement into a spreadsheet, cleaning a customer list before a mailing, adding up time cards on payday. Plenty of websites offer to do these jobs, but most want an account, a subscription or your files on their server. SmallBizDesk does them in your browser, for free.

Who builds it

SmallBizDesk is built and maintained by Muhammad Yahya, a Python automation and backend developer who is Top Rated on Upwork. His client work is automating repetitive business tasks, and these tools are the everyday versions of that work: small, focused and free.

His work history and client feedback are on his Upwork profile.

How the tools handle your files

  • Your browser opens the file on your device. It is never uploaded to a server.
  • Results are created on your device and saved straight to your Downloads folder.
  • There are no accounts, so there is nothing about you to store.

The privacy policy covers the details, including what the web host sees when you visit.

Accuracy

Tools that depend on a rule or a rate, such as overtime or the IRS mileage rate, use official US sources and show the date the rule was last checked. Calculators show their formula, so you can follow the math.

The tools are a help, not professional advice. Check important numbers before you rely on them, and talk to an accountant or attorney about your own situation. If you spot a mistake, please report it.

How it's paid for

There are no paid plans and nothing to sign up for. Muhammad Yahya works with clients around the world, and the same chores kept coming up: files to merge, lists to clean, statements to retype. Businesses pay to have this work done. He built these tools on his own so anyone can do it for free, and he pays to keep the site running himself.
